Summer Show 2025: Urinetown

Summer Show 2025 saw Showstoppers put on an amazing production of 'Urinetown'.
In a Gotham-like city plagued by a twenty-year drought, all private toilets are outlawed, forcing citizens to pay a fee to a malevolent megacorporation, Urine Good Company (UGC), for "The Privilege to Pee." Transgressors are shipped off to the mysterious and dreaded "Urinetown." When the hero, Bobby Strong, watches his father arrested for public urination, he launches a revolution against the tyrannical CEO, Caldwell B. Cladwell, aided by a band of desperate, oppressed citizens.
Amidst the uprising, Bobby falls in love with Cladwell’s idealistic daughter, Hope. The satirical musical breaks the fourth wall as Officer Lockstock and the urchin Little Sally narrate, commenting on the legal system, capitalism, and even the conventions of musical theatre itself. The rebels’ victory ushers in an age of free urination but leads to an unexpected and devastating ecological collapse, proving that no one—not even the audience—is safe from scrutiny.
